Applied AI

AI Engineer, Applied AI

Build production agentic systems for regulated clients — retrieval pipelines, tool contracts, evaluation harnesses and the governance that makes them defensible.

Apply for this role

Location: Chennai, India · Hybrid
Contract: Full time
Experience: 4+ years
Posted: July 2, 2026

What you will do

Design and implement retrieval pipelines over enterprise content with access control preserved end to end.
Build typed tool contracts that let agents act safely against core banking, ERP and ticketing systems.
Own evaluation: golden datasets, accuracy and refusal metrics, and regression gates in continuous integration.
Instrument systems for cost, latency and quality, and act on what the telemetry shows.
Work directly with client risk and compliance teams to produce model cards and decision logs.

What we are looking for

Four or more years building production software, with at least one year on LLM-based systems.
Strong Python or TypeScript, including asynchronous programming and API design.
Practical experience with retrieval architecture — chunking strategy, hybrid search, reranking.
Demonstrated use of evaluation frameworks rather than manual spot-checking.
Clear written communication; much of this role is explaining system behaviour to non-specialists.

Also useful

Experience with LangGraph, LlamaIndex or the Model Context Protocol.
Exposure to regulated environments and the evidence they demand.
Background in information retrieval or machine learning operations.

What we offer

Certification and learning budget
An annual budget for certifications, conferences and courses, with study time protected in delivery planning rather than expected on weekends.
Flexible and hybrid working
Hybrid by default and fully remote for several roles. Client on-site presence is planned in advance, not sprung on you.
Comprehensive health cover
Private medical cover for you and your dependants across all delivery locations, including mental health support.
Humane on-call
Genuine follow-the-sun rotation with compensated call-outs, capped frequency and a hard rule that repeat incidents get fixed rather than absorbed.
Transparent progression
Published competency frameworks per discipline with twice-yearly review, and parallel tracks for technical and management progression.
